1Who should register for this course?

The International Course on Smart Cities is intended for Government Officials, policy makers, administrators and practitioners and professionals engaged in various facets of urban development and management, including planning, economic development, infrastructure, mobility, housing, poverty reduction etc.

2What is the registration process?

Steps for Registration:

  1. Fill the Registration Form that was sent to you in your email and mail it back to smartcities@tscpl.com. Alternately, you can straight away fill the Registration Form directly on the website www.tscpl.com/smartcities under the “Register Now” tab.
  2. Submit your Registration Fees as per the Account Details mentioned below in the Registration Form. You can also see this information in the Downloads section of the website with the name “Payment Confirmation Form”.
  3. Once your fees is remitted successfully to IHS, you need to fill up the Payment Confirmation Form (2nd page of the Registration Form). You may also access the Payment Confirmation Form in the Downloads section of the website.
3Once I register and then am unable to attend the course due to unforeseen circumstances, can somebody else attend on my behalf?

You need to note that after your registration process, other formalities like Visa Processing and Ticket Bookings for Rotterdam will commence. Once your name has been finalized, it will be impossible for us to replace your name with another person. You may also note that fees once paid is not refundable.

4I am a resident of Delhi / I have a place to stay I Delhi. Is there any reduction of fees for me?

There are two different payment plan for ICSC Registration Fees. In the first, Full Mode, the fees is €5,500. This amount is fully paid up and is inclusive of all elements like Tuition Fees, boarding and lodging both in Delhi and Rotterdam and international travel expenses.

The second mode, i.e., the Partial Mode for €4,200 is only inclusive of Tuition Fees and boarding and lodging at Rotterdam. International travel expenses and boarding and lodging are not covered in this plan. You are free to evaluate both options for your registration in ICSC.

ICSC has an Early Bird Discount Offer under which you will have to register your seats before 15th August 2015. By doing so, you pay only €5,000 for the Full Mode and €3,700 for the Partial Mode Registrations. This scheme is valid on a first come first serve basis uptil 15th August 2015 only.

Instead of sharing a room with a fellow participant, can I be booked on a single occupancy room, both in Delhi and Rotterdam?

OR

Can an arrangement be made for accommodating my spouse during the course of this training workshop?

We can surely accommodate you on a single occupancy basis or you alongwith your spouse, either in Rotterdam and Delhi, or even just in Rotterdam, if you have a place to stay in Delhi. You may choose out of the following packages of Registration Fees as will be applicable to you:

  • All hotel accommodations under this package are for the participant and accompanying spouse. Please present the requisite documents during check in.
  • Separate arrangements need to be made for the international travel of the participant’s spouse, which will be the responsibility of the participant. Neither TSCPL nor IHS will be responsible for the travel arrangements of the spouse.
  • Partial Mode Plan: Participants are free to organize their own accommodation for the week in Delhi as well as return air tickets to Rotterdam.

All Registrations for the International Course on Smart Cities close on 5th September 2015.

About the Course

1What is the course duration?

The total course duration is 2 weeks.

First week of the course, i.e., 05 to 09 October, 2015 will be conducted in New Delhi, INDIA, followed by another one week, i.e., 12 to 16 October, 2015 in Rotterdam, NETHERLANDS. The weekend in between shall be utilized for the Rotterdam transit and sightseeing in Rotterdam.

Outstanding academics and experienced practitioners in the field of urban development, from India and across the globe, are joining hands to deliver a truly engaging and innovative learning experience for the participants of ICSC. Core Faculty include:

3What is the impact of this course on my career?

The International Course on Smart Cities comes at a time when the government of India has committed to building at least 100 new smart cities across the country and donors and civil society recognize the critical need for innovative thinking in India’s urban development. 

ICSC is a unique learning experience which aims to provide practitioners and decision-makers, such as yourself, with deep insights into all components of the smart city and helps them integrate such components into their specific context and work.

ICSC is being conducted by an organization like TSCPL which has an experience of more than 20 years of designing and implementing Smart City initiatives; and an institution like Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) at University of Erasmus, Rotterdam, Netherlands, which is one of Europe’s leading academic institution for urban management and housing studies.

ICSC will enable participants to develop and apply a well-structured and actionable Smart City Framework to their own cities, making them more efficient, inclusive and responsive.

4What will be the course syllabus? Do I get any take home reading material?

The course provides decision-makers and practitioners with knowledge about all components of the smart city on the one hand, and with a toolbox for making their cities smarter on the other. The course will be split into modules, covering eight components of the smart city:

Applied planning and stakeholder mapping exercises will enable participants to prioritize the issues faced in their cities, work with a systematic method of defining problems, and explain the link between problems, goals, and objectives to develop strategies for tackling these problems. 

5What is the medium of instruction in the course?

Medium of Course interaction and coverage will only be in English.

6Do I get any certification for attending this course? Who provides it? When?

Participants completing the course successfully will be awarded certificates by the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University Rotterdam and Total Synergy Consulting (TSCPL), New Delhi.

7Do the participants get any assignments and evaluations? How do I score in this course?

Working in collaboration, TSCPL and IHS have designed the International Course on Smart Cities (ICSC) an innovative course focusing on the emergence of Smart Cities. The course employs a range of proven and innovative training methodologies. The learning activities will include classroom presentations, interactive sessions, group discussions and assignments, and guest lectures by well-known practitioners. Field visits to cutting edge smart city initiatives in the Netherlands will complement the learning experience.

TSCPL will undertake the ticket booking process for all those participants who pay the Registration Fees in Full Mode Plan.  

2Where am I supposed to report for the workshops? What are the timings of the workshops at both locations?

All enrolled participants will report directly at the ICSC venue as mentioned below:

The venue and location of hotel accommodation at Rotterdam will be informed to all participants at the commencement of the course.

The workshop will start at 0900 hours and end at 1700 hours every day, with breaks for Tea/Coffee and Lunch.

3Where will all the delegates stay during the workshop, in Delhi and Rotterdam? Is local conveyance provided?

Participants who have paid Registration Fee in Full Mode

  • Hotel accommodation and venue of the workshop same, Hari’s Court.
  • Local conveyance will be provided for airport transit only.
  • All local conveyance regarding the course in Rotterdam, including excursions and airport transits are covered in this scheme.
  • The venue and location of hotel accommodation at Rotterdam will be informed to all participants at the commencement of the course.

Participants who have paid Registration Fee in Partial Mode

  • Participants who have own arrangements for boarding and lodging in Delhi are requested to adhere to the timings.
  • Local conveyance in Delhi is not part of this package.
  • The transit from airport to venue and back, for such participants is not part of your Registration Fee.
  • Boarding at Lodging covered in this scheme. The venue and location of hotel accommodation at Rotterdam will be informed to all participants at the commencement of the course.
  • All other local conveyance regarding the course in Rotterdam, including excursions are covered in this scheme.
4What will be the schedule of the delegates during the weekend?

A sightseeing and shopping tour shall be arranged for all participants over the weekend in Rotterdam.

5I want to extend my stay in Rotterdam, even after the workshop with my family. Can you help me with that?

Participants who have paid Registration Fee in Full Mode

  • You will need to inform us about this in advance. While doing your booking, we can book your ticket for a later date, which you will need to intimate to the Program Coordinator, once you have done your Program Registration. You need to note here that this may only be done if the ticket costing is less or equal to the cost of the tickets that we are booking for the other participants. Any non-communication to this effect shall not be considered the responsibility of TSCPL.
  • Travel or hotel accommodation bookings of your family / spouse is not the responsibility of TSCPL.
  • Lodging / boarding / other travels, beyond the time frame of the International Course on Smart Cities shall be the sole responsibility of the participant.
