Strengthening Governance & Inclusion in Karnataka Panchayats Panchayati Raj Institution, Government of Karnataka (Ref. 7175441)

Project Overview

The objective of the project is to improve the inclusiveness of management of public resources and delivery of priority services to rural citizens in targeted areas. The project was built on the successes and lessons learnt from the experience of Karnataka Panchayat Strengthening Project (KPSP) by extending the project to include in the block grant scheme to the “more” backward taluks, in addition to the “most” backward taluks; totalling 2,585 Gram Panchayats (village councils). The project aims to improve the delivery of public services in the most backward district Gram Panchayats in the state. Additionally, this project hopes to increase participation in deciding the spending priorities, integrate disparate plans of various government schemes implemented at the Gram Panchayat level into one, improve budget performance, and increase the inclusion of marginalized groups (ST, SC, and women) in government decision making.
