The Ministry of Urban Development launched HRIDAY on 21 January 2015, with a focus on the holistic development of heritage cities across India. The scheme offers a unique opportunity towards an integrated, inclusive and sustainable development of most cities and towns in India. HRIDAY aims at the development of heritage cities by combining the urban planning and economic growth with heritage conservation, in an inclusive and integrated manner. It focuses on livelihoods, skills, cleanliness, security, and accessibility and service delivery aimed at improving the overall quality of life building upon the city’s cultural identities. TSCPL supported the overall management of the World Bank and Cities Alliance Technical Assistance to the Ministry for the implementation of HRIDAY.
