Planning, Infrastructure and Services Success Factors and Case Study (Sarnath, UP)

The National Action Planning Workshop was successfully held in World Bank conference room on 11th December 2017. It was chaired by Mr. K.J. Alphons, Minister of Tourism (MoT), Government of India and was attended by senior officials from MoT along with senior officials from the Department of Tourism of four key states – Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. These states were selected by MoT for Buddhist Circuit development under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.

Presentations were made on aspects such as policy regulatory reforms, private investment generation, public investment plans and local women entrepreneurship development by the World Bank Team and experts from Consultancy firms – TSCPL, RAA, KMNP Law, Genesis Leisure Consulting and Solimar International. Sanjay Saxena, managing director and founder at TSCPL presented the success factors of planning, infrastructure and services with a focus on Sarnath (Uttar Pradesh) strategic development plan and detailed project report.

Open discussions were held between the World Bank team and senior officials from all the four states for the development of Buddhist circuit in India and South Asia. The Workshop was concluded with a set of jointly agreed action points, for MoT, as well as for DoTs of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
